ModelCoffee City
It is Vietnam’s leading coffee producer -Trung Nguyen- vision to transform the City of Buon Me Thuot into the world’s centre of coffee and to boost the economy for the city, located in the province of Dak Lak, and the surroundings.

Together with experts from Singapore and Australia a strategy was developed to gradually change Buon Me Thuot’s inhabitant’s philosophy of living to a more modern living style without losing its roots and traditions. Part of the strategy was to design a large area for the typical oblong shaped housing extendable for future generations; traditionally shops are located at the front part of the building which guarantees the earnings for families living in these houses.

By stringing together a high number of these contemporary-traditional houses, a retail and commercial street was created that serves as a starting point that leads through several recreational and mixed-used areas to the main attraction of the area- the Coffee Museum.

The client has collected 5,000 artifacts from all over the world which will be displayed in the Coffee Museum. The client’s desire was to derive the shape of the museum from the coffee fruit or the bean which was achieved by designing an oval yin and yang symbolizing a coffee bean. Adjacent to the museum is the “World of Coffee” that accommodates other cultural complexes like the Bazan Earth Museum, the Tay Nguyen Architectural Museum, cultural park and hotel and MICE facilities

MainRainbow Valleys
The concept of the “Rainbow Valleys” aims to take advantage of the inherent qualities of the site: The beautiful “Lao” river on the southern side and the 2 canals on the north. This landscape inspired the designers to connect these natural features with 3 landscaped themed parks – “Rainbow Valleys” – which bring nature close to every single plot of land in the community and interweaves the development. Each valley is designed with different trees and flowers to create a unique identity.

The heart of the community is found at the southern tip of the central valley: A public plaza with water features lies in front of the cultural center with a multi-purpose performing arts stage. The plaza connects to the boat quay as a favorite late-day hang-out.Ready for water-taxis and boat rental it is also designed for al fresco waterfront dining. The pedestrian-only riverfront promenade connects these central features to the east and west valley of this integrated modern community.
